If you don’t already know; I have what you would call, a true love of parody songs! Blame Weird Al (and morning radio) for taking a familiar song and changing the lyrics to poke fun at news stories, celebrity mishaps, and your local sports team. Even I’m guilty of writing Chiefs Fight Songs and a few cheesy parody songs – but I love them all the same!
has taken the concept of parody songs to a whole new level – getting superstars like Sir Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake and even Blake Shelton (Google Chickeneers
) to sing with him. Last night, he once again got the Boss, Bruce Springsteen to join him on stage – this time, poking fun at New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for the controversy surrounding a traffic jam on the George Washington bridge. Seriously? Traffic… in NY… on a bridge? While bridge traffic (and the ensuing scandal) is not high on my list of news here in KC, I do appreciate Fallon’s ability to satirize the matter on a national level. When you need a good laugh – always go for the parody song!
